The mission of the natural lands program is to provide UCF students, faculty, staff, and the greater community of Central Florida a comprehensive environmental and outdoor living laboratory for education, research, recreation, and human interaction with ecosystem functions. Land Management techniques include prescribed burning, invasive species management, listed species protection, and restoration. UCF's land management program has the goals of:
* Preserving biodiversity within Florida's unique habitats
* Promoting of responsible land use
* Facilitating intellectual opportunities for students, visitors, and faculty. (i.e. environmental education, species interactions)
Natural areas managed include:
* The northwest corner of campus which is comprised of sand hill, scrub and pine flatwood ecosystems.
* A seepage wetland along the northeast boundary of campus
* Isolated scrub communities, Pond Pine and Baygall habitats in the campus interior
* The Arboretum natural areas
