Global UCF Achieves LEED® Gold Certification

May 2, 2016

Utilities & Energy Services is proud to announce that, on December 7th 2016, the Global UCF building achieved LEED® Gold certification under the LEED-NC v2009 rating system, established by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), and verified by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI).

The goal of the Global UCF Building at The University of Central Florida is to provide a home for the Global International Studies Program, whose mission is to increase diversity on campus through recruitment of international students. The building will provide a space where international students can attend all of their classes and congregate with other international students in one location on campus. By providing a single location, in close proximity to housing and food service amenities, the university wishes to provide a productive and attractive environment to international students and increase their enrollment at UCF.

The University of Central Florida is committed to sustainable growth, and has mandated that design teams target at least LEED Gold Certification on all new construction projects, however, the university is continually striving to exceed that goal.

Global UCF is the 18th UCF project to achieve certification for new construction under the USGBC LEED green building program.
